About this worksheet
Nine shapes sit in a dashed cutting grid at the top, and three labeled columns wait below: halves, thirds and fourths. The set is balanced, three shapes for each column, so a child who ends up with four cards under thirds knows without being told that something needs another look. Circles, squares, rectangles and a triangle all appear, and the same number of parts shows up in more than one shape.
Sorting has a built-in check that a worksheet of separate questions does not, which is why this one is worth the extra minutes with scissors. Cut all nine out first and lay them on the table before any glue comes out, so a change of mind costs nothing.
