A market stand sells eight fruits and vegetables, each with a price tag from 5¢ to 40¢. Four shoppers each pick four or five items, and the child copies every price into a box, adds them up, and writes the total. The totals land between 55¢ and 90¢, so nothing crosses a dollar.
There are no coins on this page at all, and that is the point. It moves money from counting things to adding numbers, which is how prices work in an actual store. Shoppers 2 and 4 each buy two of the same item, a natural place to mention doubling.
