Match Shapes to Fraction Words Worksheet for Grade 2

About this worksheet

Six shaded shapes run down the left side and six fraction names down the right: one third, one fourth, two fourths, three fourths, two thirds, one half. Each shape pairs with exactly one name, so a child who gets five right has the sixth by elimination. The two circles cut into fourths are the pair worth watching, since one has a single part shaded and the other has two.

Matching is easier than writing, which makes this a good first independent page after a lesson. Ask your child to say the name out loud before drawing each line, because “two fourths” spoken slowly is most of the way to noticing that it means two parts out of four.
