About this worksheet
A key at the top shows the four coins with their names and values. Below it, six addition sentences each have one dashed circle where a coin is missing, like 25¢ + 10¢ + ? = 40¢. The child works out the gap and writes the missing value in the circle.
This is missing addend thinking dressed up as a puzzle, and every answer is one of the four coins in the key, which keeps the guessing honest. In sentence 4 the missing coin comes first, so counting on from the left will not work. All four coins turn up as answers at least once.
