About this worksheet
A key box across the top assigns a color to each of five shapes: circle red, square blue, triangle yellow, star green, heart orange. Below it, about twenty shapes are scattered across the page in mixed sizes and tilted at different angles, inside a dashed cut-line border. There are no numbers and no problems to solve, only sorting by eye.
The tilting is what makes this more than a coloring page. A square turned forty-five degrees still has to be colored blue, not treated as a diamond, and a child who colors it wrong has told you something useful about how they are storing the idea of a square. Keep the key in view the whole time, and expect one full sitting rather than five minutes.
