About this worksheet
A rocket built entirely from shapes, with a color key underneath: circles yellow, triangles red, rectangles blue and squares green. The child colors the rocket using the key, then counts each shape and writes how many.
Counting is where it gets interesting. The two fins are triangles just like the nose, so a child who counts only the nose has missed two. The door is a square while the body is a rectangle, so the square and rectangle rows each have one. It shows that bigger pictures are built out of simple shapes, and the finished rocket is a nice thing to take home.
