About this worksheet

Five boxed rows under the plain heading “Trace Some Shapes,” each with a solid model on the left and four dotted copies to work across: heart, star, diamond, trapezoid and arrow. The layout is the simplest of the tracing sheets here, just ruled boxes and outlines with no decorative border.

The shape worth pointing out is the trapezoid, which shows up rarely at this age and is the one most parents skip over. It is only a four-sided shape with one pair of parallel sides, and tracing it four times is a better introduction than any definition. The arrow closes the page as the odd one out, a seven-sided shape that no child thinks of as a shape at all, which usually gets a laugh when you count the sides together afterward.
