Ten short space sentences with a dashed rocket trail curving down the right margin. The rocket blasts, a helmet floats, stars twinkle, a robot beeps, the crew cheers, the moon glows, and so on down to landing the ship softly. A tally line at the bottom asks how many verbs were found out of ten.
The sentences are deliberately short, most of them six or seven words, because the skill being practiced is finding the verb, not decoding the sentence. Once a first grader can do this page, the farmyard and bakery sheets in the same set run the same task through longer lines.
