Twelve full-color animals around a letter grid, each with a blank box beneath it. Circle all 14 words in the puzzle, then write the name of each animal in its box. The list is cow, pig, hen, duck, sheep, goat, rabbit, turkey, horse, mouse, dog, cat, donkey and bee.
The vocabulary is the everyday set, which makes this the gentler of the two farm word searches. A first grader who knows cow, pig and dog on sight gets several boxes filled quickly and can spend the leftover attention on sheep, mouse and donkey. Start a child here and move them to the calf-and-duckling version once the format itself stops being the hard part.
