About this worksheet
Twenty adjectives fill the box at the top, from purple and tiny to pointy and excited, and four columns below are headed Color, Size, Shape and Feelings, each with a small picture so the headings can be read at a glance. The child writes every word into the column where it belongs.
Sorting is a step up from simply spotting adjectives. It asks what kind of information a describing word gives, which is the first move toward choosing a better word when writing. Each column takes exactly five, so a column that fills up early is a sign that something has landed in the wrong place. Short and tall are the pair worth watching, since some children want to call them shapes.
The sheet is plain line art and prints crisply in black and white.
