About this worksheet
Nico loves the pool because he always knows what to expect, so when it is closed for repairs and his sister steers him to the new climbing wall, his stomach does a flip. Halfway up he freezes, the instructor tells him to look for the next hold instead of the floor, and a few holds later he rings the bell at the top.
Question four is the one that makes this a fourth grade sheet: how did Nico change, using details from the story. A strong answer points at the opening and at the last line, where the boy who wanted only the pool says maybe they can do both. The final question invites children to write about something new they tried, which makes for good sharing afterwards.
