About this worksheet

A full-color girl stands in the middle of the page with twelve empty boxes arranged around her, six down each side, and a thin line running from every box to the part it belongs to. The word bank across the bottom holds exactly twelve words: ear, hair, foot, hand, eye, chin, knee, tummy, nose, mouth, elbow and shoulder.

Twelve words is a lot of writing for kindergarten, and the word bank is what makes it workable. Nobody has to produce a spelling from memory, so the thinking goes into following the line to the right spot and the hand work goes into copying the word neatly. Because the count of boxes and the count of words match exactly, a child who gets stuck near the end can reason it out from what is left, which is a quiet second lesson hidden in the layout.

What students will practice

  • Label twelve parts on a full-color figure
  • Copy words correctly from a word bank
  • Follow a pointer line from a box to the right spot
