Color and Spell Farm Animals Worksheet: Missing Vowels

About this worksheet

The same eight animals as the Vowel Hunt sheet, now drawn as clean line art in a serif-framed page: turkey, hen, bull, goose, donkey, pony, calf and lamb. Fill in the missing letters first, then color each animal.

Dropping the color changes the work more than it looks like it should. On the full-color version the animal is unmistakable at a glance, and here a child spends a beat longer deciding what they are looking at, which pushes them toward the word instead of the picture. It also prints for almost nothing and gives a class the coloring half as the reward for finishing the spelling half.
