Eight line-art pictures in rounded boxes, each with a word to finish: hay, chick, boots, nest, wagon, corn, bucket and fence. Finish the word, then color the picture.
This is the odd one in the farm set, and deliberately so. Only the chick is an animal, and the rest is the stuff a child sees on a farm visit but rarely gets asked to spell: the boots by the door, the bucket, the corn, the wagon. Vocabulary like that is worth a sheet of its own, because a child can know exactly what a nest is and still have never written the word. Wagon, bucket and fence each need two letters filled in, which is what places it at first grade.
