Eight bright pictures under a sun and clouds, six animals and two things a farm cannot run without: pig, duck, goat, horse, rooster, barn, tractor and sheep. Each word is missing letters and the child finishes it from the picture.
Goat, sheep and rooster are the reason this is a first grade sheet. Each one needs a vowel team, and a child who has only met short vowels will write “got” and “shep” with total confidence. Rooster and tractor add a second syllable on top of that. Pig, duck and barn sit at the easy end on purpose, so the page opens with a couple of quick wins before it asks for the harder spellings.
